Goodbye, Peter...

It is with great sadness that we share the news regarding the passing of a beloved member of the Teddie Kossof Salon family.  Peter Thomas Patras, was one of the original members of the salon team, Joining Teddie's in 1976.  He had retired in 2019.

Please take a moment to read a message from Teddie:

A friend... "what does that statement really mean?"  An associate, buddy, supporter, crony, & confidant are just a few words that come to mind. But, mostly, I believe it means I am standing at your side and we'll support each other, surviving the test of time.

Peter was the epitome of a dedicated master hairstylist. He was a mentor to many young stylists throughout his career. Our relationship began at Teddies Too in Des Plaines on Ballard Road. He later bought the salon. When Peter closed the salon to move to Teddies Hair Designers on the north shore, I was proud to welcome him to the salon where he worked for nearly 40 years, until he retired in 2019.  During his career, he was a true master with Short Hairstyles and Retexturizing Services.  He was among the best in Perming Hair.  He always has a true passion for service, and I admired his dedication to the art of hairdressing.  In the early 2000's, Peter found his new passion, in Japanese Hair Straightening, a technique to permanently straighten hair.  He was sought out on the North Shore for this service and enjoyed sharing the knowledge he learned with others on the team.  I will always be appreciative of Peter's contributions; he was a great partner.  While we sometimes didn't always agree, we did find common ground.  He will be dearly missed, we will never forget our dear friend, Peter, may you rest in peace.

-Teddie
