In honor of “National Breast Cancer Awareness Month” this October, local citizens can participate in the “Pink Hair for Hope” campaign.

The “Pink Hair for Hope” campaign is a nationwide effort that has brought together the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) with more than 375 salons. The campaign has already raised close to $400,000.00 to fight Breast Cancer.

Locally, Teddie Kossof Salon is inviting the public to participate in this campaign, with a fun and stylish event that will be available on two dates during October.

For a $10 donation, the public can schedule a brief appointment at Teddie Kossof Salon. During the appointment, they will meet with a Hair Designer and have a lock of pink hair extension tastefully added to their own locks. All proceeds of this campaign will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help fund breast cancer research.

Teddie Kossof explains why his Salon is so motivated to work for the cure: “This is a meaningful way to remember friends and loved ones who struggle with breast cancer. All over the NorthShore, there are thousands of families touched by the disease. Many of these women are my clients.”

Teddie Kossof’s commitment to breast cancer research is longstanding, and this commitment has transformed the Salon. “Over the years Teddie Kossof Salon has introduced a number of hair and scalp treatments designed for those afflicted with health issues,” said Co-owner Alan Kossof.  “We routinely work with individuals who need corrective treatments to offset the affects of cancer, such services include consultations for wig and hair systems, laser hair rejuvenation and specialized scalp treatments, most treatments are designed for home use. Of course we appreciate their business, but we appreciate their courage even more.”

According to the American Cancer Society, more than 212,000 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in the USA in 2006, adding to the 2.3 million women in the U.S.A. with a history of breast cancer.
